Public Cloud Injector Families

Public Cloud injectors are provisioned in a cloud environment to run Eggplant Performance injector software. These injectors are typically created only as the test begins; therefore, the IP address will likely be different each time the specific injector is called.

Public Cloud injectors are housed in Eggplant Performance Studio within Public cloud injector families. The injector family provides the configuration settings for multiple similar injectors. Public Cloud injector families are found in the workspace tree in Studio under Injector Families.

When you create a new injector family in the Create an Injector Family wizard, you choose whether the family is for Static, Eggplant Cloud, or Public Cloud injectors. After the injector family is created, you can't change the type (although you can always create new injector families and delete existing ones).

Prerequisites for Public Cloud Injector Families

Before you're able to create a Public Cloud injector family, you must meet the basic prerequisites:

  • Credentials: Save your access credentials for the hosted provider you intend to use (i.e., if you're using Amazon EC2, you need stored credentials for an EC2 account and if you're using Microsoft Azure, you need stored credentials for an Azure account). For more information about stored credentials, go to Stored Credentials.
  • Virtual Machine Images: You must have an image name or ID for at least one virtual instance on the hosted provider you intend to use (i.e., an AMI ID for EC2 or an Azure image name for Microsoft Azure). For more information about Virtual Machine Images, go to Virtual Machine Images.

If either of these pieces of information is missing, the Create an Injector Family wizard won't allow you to continue to create a cloud injector family.
