Tour Eggplant Functional
Welcome to Eggplant Functional!
Let's get started with a tour of the interface.
Eggplant Functional provides four main windows in which you perform different testing tasks.
The Eggplant Functional application menus are available in each of these main windows. This provides you with access to Eggplant Functional features and functionality regardless of which window you are using.
Another window you might find useful as you get started using Eggplant Functional is the Achievements window. The Achievements window is not one of the main Eggplant Functional windows, but it provides tutorials and a list of tasks to help you learn Eggplant Functional.
Let's take a quick look at each window and how you use it.
The Suite Window
The Suite window is where you manage scripts, images, and test run results within Eggplant Functional. It's the control hub for all of your testing operations. For an explanation of how to use this window, see The Suite Window.
If the Suite window is not open, you can display it by choosing File > New Suite or Open Suite in any of the main Eggplant Functional windows.
The Connection List Window
The Connection List window shows you the names and other relevant information about system under test (SUT) connections defined in your Eggplant Functional application. You can add, edit, delete and establish connections to SUTs in this window. For an explanation of how to use this window, see The Connection List.
If the Connection List is not open, you can display it by choosing Connection > Connection List in any of the main Eggplant Functional windows.
The Run Window
The Run window displays information about the currently running script. If you do not display it, it opens when you run a script. In the Run window you can manually control script execution, view script output as it is generated, see and modify variables, and follow the progress of the script with animation or tracing. For an explanation of how to use this window, see The Run Window.
You display the Run window by choosing Run Window from the Run menu in Eggplant Functional.
The Viewer Window
The Viewer window shows an image of the SUT as you would see it on its own display. It has two modes: Live Mode and Capture Mode. You can interact with the SUT as a user in Live Mode, and capture images to use in Eggplant Functional scripts in Capture Mode. In Capture Mode, you can quickly create a script with Turbo Capture or capture only images with Rapid Image Capture. For an explanation of how to use this window, see The Viewer Window.
The Viewer window opens when you connect to a system under test (SUT).
The Achievements Window
The Achievements window provides tutorials and achievements to help you learn Eggplant Functional. As you perform a designated task and learn about it, Eggplant Functional awards you an achievement
and sends you a notification of the award. Achievement notifications are enabled by default, so you might have seen one already. For an explanation of how to use this window, see The Achievements Window.
You can display the Achievements window by choosing Achievements from the Window menu in Eggplant Functional.
