Installing Eggplant Functional
This section covers installation of Eggplant Functional on Windows, Mac, and Linux, including the system requirements for each.
Note: When you launch Eggplant Functional for the first time after installation, you are required to agree to the Keysight EULA.
In addition to the OS-specific requirements, the following ports must be available: TCP 5052-5054. For SUTs: RDP: 3389. VNC: 5900. WebDriver: 4444.
Installing Eggplant Functional on Windows
System Requirements
- Operating system: Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012
Important: mfplat.dll, included in the Windows Media Pack, is required for Eggplant Functional 21.1 and later. Some Windows versions, such as Window 10 N, do not include this .dll by default.
- Processor: 2 GHz dual core or faster
- RAM: 8 GB or more, + 2 GB for each additional instance of Eggplant Functional

Installation
- Download the Eggplant Functional Windows installer from the Eggplant Functional Downloads page.
- Double-click the Eggplant Functional installer, then follow the instructions in the Setup Wizard to complete installation.
From the Select Components screen, you can choose to install Bonjour, which discovers other devices on your local network. Check with your system administrator if you're not sure whether or not you should install this service.
Installing Eggplant Functional on Mac
System Requirements
- Operating system: macOS 10.15, macOS 10.14, macOS 10.13, macOS 10.12.
- RAM: 8 GB or more, + 2 GB for each additional instance of Eggplant Functional
Installation
- Download Eggplant Functional from the Eggplant Functional Downloads page.
- Double-click the Eggplant Functional .dmg file, then drag the Eggplant Functional application into your Applications folder.
Installing Eggplant Functional on Linux
System Requirements

64-bit distributions only. Ubuntu 16. Red Hat 7. CentOS 7.
- Processor: Intel x86 64-bit
- RAM: 8 GB or more, + 2 GB for each additional instance of Eggplant Functional

Installation
- Download Eggplant Functional for your Linux distribution from the Eggplant Functional Downloads page.
- Unpack the Eggplant Functional archive.
- Install the Eggplant Functional package with a package manager.

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-flashback
Then, log out, and when you log back in, choose the Metacity desktop option.
Use the following command to see what desktop you are running:
echo $DESKTOP_SESSION
Use the following command to see if you have the Gnome desktop package installed:
dpkg -L gnome-session-flashback
